25 THINGS That Make ME—–ME !!

I will give you a brief reason for this blog post. The Gazzman ( Gary Simpson ) With Marketing With Alex’s Coaching Course, Threw down the GAUNTLET to some of the students. We need to list 25 things about us that others may find interesting, amusing or downright funny.  Then we need to TAG 5 other people from our class to do the same.  So here goes and enjoy.

1.  Born on the East Coast of the United States but raised on the Central Coast of California.

2.  Lucky enough to have both parents through most of my life.  My Father was a Swedish Immigrant , my Mother was Pennsylvania Dutch ( German, Irish and English)  I am accused of being “HARD HEADED”  with this background I come by it honestly.  My Father would tell me ” You can ALWAYS tell a SWEDE, You just CAN”T tell him very much”

3.  Growing up I had horses, dogs.  Where we lived we could ride 10 miles and not run into fences.  Times are different now, lots of fences and to many houses.  I was raised with German Shepards  but have had a multiple breeds since then.  Loved my Wolfhound Great Dane Cross  She was wonderful.

4  I was  Boy Scout growing up.  In our area had lots of places to hike and camp.  Lucky enough to have a very active Scoutmaster.  Became an Eagle Scout, Member of the Order of the Arrow ( Honorary Boy Scout Society) Knights of Dunamis ( another honorary society just for Eagle Scouts)  .  This had a big part in setting my “Makeup” for my Life.

5.  Growing up I loved to read, remember these were the days before color television.  I was lucky to have several wonderful teachers to help me shape  this part of my life.

6.  Graduated High School in 1969.  Started College only to drop out after a couple of months to join The Marine Corp.  I felt that this was my Patriotic Duty, Asked for Duty in Viet Nam that’s all I will say on this subject.

7.  I am a Pisces, Things are pretty much Black and White not much gray.

8.  In my prime I had a 50″ chest with a 30″ waist.  NOW those numbers are trying to reverse themselves.

9.  I try to give people the benefit of the doubt.  If they do not live up to my expectations I try NOT to feel JADED.

10.  I believe in TRUST, HONOR and LOYALTY.   Your most important asset you have in life is YOUR WORD.  Keep IT when you GIVE IT.

11.  I have been self-employed for 35 years.  Roofing Contractor and Building Contractor.  It has been good to me.

12 I am trying NOT to be such a PERFECTIONIST.  In my Brick and Mortar Business I had to be.  If not, it rains, the roof leaks wet angry customers.  Things had to be perfect, and not just perfect in the beginning but for 30 or 40 years.

13.  I have to agree with Gary on this on.  Catherine Bell ,Not just her physical shape but her EYES.  IF her eyes were the windows to her soul PUT ME IN COACH!!!

14.  Music tastes are wide and varied.  AS a product of the 60’s I love hard rock IE Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd , Rolling Stones and even the Beatles.  Eric Clapton is still fantastic . I now also like country music  and some of the modern young artists such as Jewell.

15.  I am a Hunter and I eat what I shoot.  I deep Sea fish, Scuba Dive and enjoy Boating.  I am an OUTDOORSMAN.  Plain and Simple.

16.  True Friendship is very important to me.

17.  I am a work alcoholic, this is tremendously hard on relationships and Marriages.

18.  My Ex-wife is one of my best friends.

19.  Money may not be the root of all evil , but pretty close.  I feel money is a vehicle to get someone from Point A to Point B.  When you get to Point B look back to Point A, if someone is there and needs a hand, GIVE IT TO THEM.

20.  Take the time to help others unselfishly .  This Action is CONTAGIOUS.

21.  COURTESY is CONTAGIOUS it is nothing to be afraid of.

22.  Yes It takes a real MAN  to CRY.  There is nothing wrong with it.

23.  I enjoy Dark Chocolate and LITE BEER

24.  Going into Internet Marketing was at the Furthest SIDE of my Comfort Zone.  I had NO knowledge of computers , I learned to COPY and PASTE 2 months ago.

25   Always give credit where credit is due.  This is similar to # 10.

26.  Go through LIFE TRYING.  Take the Chance, Make mistakes but learn from them.  You will learn more from what DIDN’T happen PERFECTLY than WHAT DID.

These are some of the things that make ME WHO I AM.

The people I am going to Tag are as follows:  Rob Canyon, Andrew Vaughn, Jed LaMont,  HeidiMarie. and Paul Norwine.

Good Luck guys and gals  Let’s make this work.

Glenn

P.S.  Your always welcome to leave comments good or bad.  We learn from both.

Glenn,

Very, very cool. Great learning about who you are. 8 and 16 yep… 19 I’m not sure I agree with.

Hmmmm and 22 was a bit of a problem for me because my son was telling me about kids at his high school that won’t be back because of drinking and driving.

Holding someone in your arms that expires for the exact same reason was a tough one for me.

Enough of that, I look forward to meeting you and the others in Las Vegas.

Keep up the great blog posts.

Rob

P.S. Thanks for the tag

Hey Rob
Thanks for the comment. I understand your riplies to 8 and 16. 19 is a comsee-comsaw Not sure about 22 and real men crying. When I was brought up I was taught real men DON’T cry. I feel that I have evolved a little from then. And holding someone in your arms I know all about that, I was LUCKY enough to be there and hold both of my parents when they left us. And it was bumpy they died 7 weeks apart. But that was another time. Though I will say when I read Gary Simpson’s book THE POWER OF CHOICE it did hit close to home
Glenn
Look forward to your TAG

Well done Glenn,

Nice list of attributes.

I laughed at this:

“You can ALWAYS tell a SWEDE, You just CAN”T tell him very much.”

Ah yes… Catherine Bell. Can’t say I have ever noticed her eyes – too busy looking elsewhere.

I agree with 5, 7, 9, 10, 16, 19, 20 – ah heck! I just about agree with ALL of that.

Well done for taking up the challenge.

Gary Simpson

Hey Gary
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Really appreciate your feedback. And thanks for including me in the challenge
Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Here my post and I\’ve tag you to my post as well. Nice to meet you. I\’m a Boy Scout. I like #26 especially.

Regards
Kin

hey Kin
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Great going being a BOY SCOUT. It has taught me many things in life and I am proud to have been one. Yes # 26 is probably the most important learning expierence that I have had
Glenn

Glenn

Great post, interesting to find out about you and some great values and beliefs in there. I particularly agree with 10, 16, 20 and 21 and of course 26 is a great point!
Keep up the good work

Tom

Hey Tom
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment. I do try to follow the 26 things that I have laid out above. And YES I think 26 is one of the most important ones to be aware of.
Glenn

Hi Glenn! Well, it took me a couple days, but I have completed my 25 things.

I LOVE dark chocolate!

Friendship is very, very important, isn\’t it? I have had some really good friends that I\’m not as close with anymore. I miss them.

Hey Heide
Congratulations on taking up the challenge. Hope it was fun, and now lets see if we can keep it going.
Glenn

19. if someone is there and needs a hand, GIVE IT TO THEM.

I sooo agree with this, as i see too many people being left behind – it\’s heartbreaking.

I\’ve noticed it with some of my friends as well
being jerks and not helping people, just looking out for nurmo uno. It\’s not a good trait.

Brad
Great to have you stop by. # 19 is important I do try to live by all of them. I have found out that people like to make others feel small, They don’t seem to get it. You can help people verbally as well as physically, verbally help them up when they fall and get them to take the next 2 steps no matter how hard that may be. They will remember you for it . Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Glad to see you took action – wouldn’t expect much else from a marine.

Real interesting read and pleased that Gazza san got the ball rolling.

I’ve read enough here to know that I’d like to share a beer deep sea fishing somewhere sunny and warm.

Talk soon,

Andrew.

Hey Andrew
Glad you stopped by and left a comment. Have you started your challenge yet? I am on my way over to your blog to find out
Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you about being “tagged.” I will take up the challenge as well :)

BTW, where on the central coast are you from? I am from the Santa Ynez valley!!

Paul

Hey Paul
NO WAY ON GOD’S GREEN EARTH. I am typing this from my warehouse behind Nielsen’s Lumber . I have been in the valley from 1963, left in 1970 came back in 1988 and been here ever since. WE truly need to catch up.
I have owned WINDH ROOFING for the last 35 years and am trying to retire and start this IM Business. Such a small world. On another note last SAT> I had our 40th year class reunion from Santa Ynez High School, Class of 1969. Glenn
P.S. I am glad to hear from you and waiting for you to “PICK UP THE GAUNTLET”

Glenn – What an incredibly small world! My family has been in the SYV since I was about a year old. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if you knew my parents. My Dad is a CPA who lives in Buellton (Mike Norwine?) and my Mom is the office manager of the SYV Pet Hospital which my step-father (Bob Dean) is the vet / owner. I graduated SYV in 1997 and moved out to Texas for grad school in 2004 but go back to the valley to visit. Next time I’m in town we need to meet up for a beer at Firestone or the Windmill! “Of all the gin joints…” :)

Paul

This is a really good post! I like the idea of reminding oneself of what makes them unique. More people should do this at least once.

Hey Paul
I have met you Dad and know your Mom. Dr. Dean has taken care of my dogs for about 20 years, Before him it was Dr. Carriburu. Need to stay in touch. When your back in the valley we will go and have a couple of cold ones
Glenn

Hey Ralph
Your right It’s also a lot of fun and you can find out a little more about people around you in the online world. Thanks for stopping by. Glenn

Hi Glenn,

I thoroughly enjoyed your post and jut about could sense that you’d add one more point to the 25.

26 is great and not often enough acted on by most.

I like dark chocolate too, the Beatles are included in my favorite music and I think some their creations are turning into classical music. Like Yesterday played by a symphony orchestra.

I thought that I was quite rare in this day and age to have learned how to copy and paste 8 months ago. And here you are having learned that just 2 months ago. I think that you are making faster progress than me.

Like all your points, totally share quite a few of them. It’s great to learn more about you this way.

Vance.

Hi Glenn
25 great things to know about you.

I can add “a good writer, easy to engage his thoughts”.

I hadn’t visited you blog before I love the top picture.

Norm

Hey Glenn,

I am so glad I stopped by.

Your post is excellent.

I like this challenge but have not yet taken it up.

I found many of your beliefs to be similar to mine. I graduated High School in 1967.

I think this challenge gives us all a chance to find out a little more about each other. I agree with the comment about the idea of reminding ourselves what makes us unique.

Cheers,

Carol

Hey Vance
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment. I think we are probably the 2 newest members to computers. It is such a challenge to do some of the things that others find so routine. Like uploading Onlywire to my blog. Screwed it up 3 times now. But practice makes perfect ( but damn I want to get it right once in a while.
Glenn

Norm
Thanks for your kind words. I am Not a good writer, I just try to write the way I talk ( and have a tendency to ramble-on) I have been by your blog and have to learn to leave more comments, since I did enjoy it
Glenn

Hi Carol
Glad you stopped by. Yes as a product of the 60’s I think we look at things a little differently. The 60’s were time of very MAJOR social change, both ends of the rainbow Hippies and Vets. At the end of the day I don’t think that there view points were much different. AS to this challenge I think it has been wonderful to learn more about the people around us in MWA 2.0
Glenn

Hi I’m Trevor
Twiter ID: Trevor_T_Jones
I am a student of Alex Jeffreys I have been looking around at fellow students blogs and came across yours. Definitely one of the best. I felt I had to leave a comment because your blog is simply, so inspirational and informative, It has given me hope and ideas to better mine.
It is so clean and fresh looking. I am always worried I overdo it myself, to much content you know. Your blog is just right. I would appreciate if you would pass comment on mine just to confirm I haven’t overdone it. On my blog I am doing a theme on successful internet marketers. Really like to know what you think as I am pretty new to all this layout stuff. I hope one day that I can write about your internet success. Keep up the good work
Rgds Trevor
PS my blog http://www.trevjones.info
Hey maybe we could follow each other on twitter.

Hey Trevor
Thanks for the kind words..I have been by your blog several time and know a little bit about your “misadventure” with some of your blog problems and how you hung in there a finally got it up and running. Very proud of you
Glenn

Hey Glenn,

Just catching up and reading folks 25 things lists.

A mantra in my life as well is no. 25. Give credit where credit is due. I don’t like others taking credit for my work so I sure as dammit won’t do it to someone else.

Regards

Andy Michaels

Hi Glenn,

Whilst I really enjoyed reading your 25 things, the one that got me the most was reading the comments between you and Paul!

How strange that the Internet and the MWA 2.0 has got you guys linked!

Cheers

Sean

Andy
Thanks for stopping here on your Journey for the 25. It NEVER hurts to give credit where credit is due. If fact you will go so much farther in life if you consistantly do this. Glenn

Sean
Thanks, Yes it is so very interesting Coming from a small valley in California to a IM Coaching Course of 300 people and Wham 2 people from the same place going to the same place at the same time. Way to cool
Glenn

Glenn,

Wanted to check back and comment about your item #9… I’ve always found expectations kills relationships.

And so I try never to have any expectations of others unless they’re on my payroll..

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the reminder,

Rob

Hey Glenn

wow some really cool things you wrote there,I am sure I left a comment here oh well.

I second what sean sais, just been reading the comments between you and paul, that is just truly amazing you even know the guys dad.

What a small world it is.

speak soon

Marcus

Hi Glenn,

Just found your blog. Excellent post.

You\’ve just got to take your hunting instincts from the wild into the internet world to snare a few people on your list.

Keep in touch
John

Hey Rob
Thanks for stopping back by. Yes I know I shouldn”t have expectations but Human Nature??? I just don’t try to let things bother me as much any more. Maybe because I don’t have any employees, makes life so much easier in some ways.
Glenn

Hey Marcus

Pretty cool seeing how it such a small world. Thankful for Alex’s MWA 2.0 and all the students who are becoming FRIENDS
Glenn

John
Great idea, I didn’t think about it that way. I am going to have to try that.
Take care
Glenn

Hi Glenn,
This is the second blog I’ve seen for today with this approach. You guys have really sparked off some brainstorming here.

I’m motivated now to sit and try to compile a list of my own. There is so much debate that can come out of an exercise like this. I’m sure to be back to go into some more details about those that have tickled my consciousness the most.

Keep up the good work.

Kelwyn
Take the exercise, make a list. It becomes a lot of fun and does stir interest. I will swing by your blog now and then let me know when your list is complete.
I am in a coaching course , Alex Jeffrey’s “Marketing with Alex 2.0 This format came out of the course.
Glenn

Hi Glenn. Thanks. You probably passed, but my site crashed a few days ago. I had to uninstall Wordpress and do a reinstallation.

Even my back up failed. Please feel free to pass again and leave a comment. (I can use the encouragement…lol).

Hi Glenn,
Couldn’t see my name listed with other students of Alex Jeffreys?
I liked the way you defined yourself, very much a man who knows himself.
#17 Made me laugh, that you a work alchoholic. Reads like you perpetually drink alchohol while working. Did you mean Workaholic? :) lol
#19 I believe the original quote is “The love of money is the root of all evil”
It’s from the Bible, Timothy 6:10
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows”
That was just for info btw, not a dig.

So many Blogs to visit, will drop by again ASAP.

Please feel free to hop on over to my blog and read my 25.

Keep on hunting !
